Tonight’s Danske Bank Premiership match between Carrick Rangers and Dungannon Swifts has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
Given the heavy rainfall in the East Antrim area over the past few days, there was an air of inevitabiliy about the outcome of the 11am inspection of the playing surface at Taylor’s Avenue.
It’s the seventh time this season the pitch has been declared unplayable as the Gers’ fixtures backlog continues to mount.
On Monday Carrick’s two remaining league games against Cliftonville were reversed.
They were due to host the Reds on January 12, but the Northern Ireland Football League confirmed the game will now be played at Solitude. It means the match on March 29 will be staged at the Belfast Loughshore Hotel Arena.
On New Year’s Day, Carrick’s scheduled match against Glenavon also bit the dust.
