We would top the group with six points unless Poland inflict a third defeat on Ukraine to finish on seven. Winning Group C would set up a meeting with one of the best-performing third-placed teams while finishing second to Poland would see us face the runners-up from Group A.

Regardless of the result between Ukraine and Poland, this would see us finish third with four points and needing to have performed better than at least two of the other third-placed teams in order to remain in the tournament.

Even if they are defeated by Germany, we would be guaranteed to finish third.Thursday’s victory over Ukraine would count ahead of goal difference should Poland also lose, while anything less than a win for the Ukrainians would see them finish with fewer points.
