ITV has announced that the next season of smash-hit reality show I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here will be filmed in the UK.

Why has the show’s location been changed?

Since 2002, the show, which sees contestants compete for the title of King or Queen of the jungle, has been filmed in Australia’s New South Wales.

However, while bosses of the show tried their hardest to get around coronavirus travel restrictions for the 2020 series, they have not been able to secure their usual location this year.

For the first time, the show will instead be filmed in the ruins of a UK castle - with contestants now competing for the title of King or Queen of the Castle.

Kevin Lygo, ITV’s Director of Television said:

“We announced last week that we were doing all we could to make the series and I’m thrilled that we can bring the show to viewers albeit not in the jungle. We have a great team both on and off screen and I know they will produce a hugely entertaining series”.

Where will the new series be filmed?

ITV have announced that contestants will be staying at Gwrych Castle in Wales for the duration of the show.

The castle is an unoccupied Grade I listed country house found in the town of Abergele, in north Wales, and is said to be haunted.

ITV have confirmed that the show will stick to its usual format, with celebs undertaking gross and fun-filled challenges in order to win treats in the lead up to a winner being crowned.

Ant and Dec will continue to host the series.

Has the new cast been announced?

Cast members for the 2020 series have not been officially confirmed, but there are a number of rumours about who may be turning up at the I’m a Celeb castle this year.

Tommy Fury, who starred in Love Island in 2019, currently has high betting odds to join the show this year, with Betway bookmakers saying he stands at odds of 2/5 to join the show.

EastEnders actress Lacey Turner has also been tipped as a potential cast member, with odds of 2/7 for joining the show, while former EastEnders cast member Tamzin Outhwaite is another rumoured possibility.

Another 2019 Love Island star, Amy Hart, has expressed interest in taking part in I’m a Celeb, and as such, Coral have placed her odds at 1-2.

Mark Labbett, of the Chase, is another rumoured celeb for the show - with Betway’s odds of him joining at 11/10.

Popular Radio 1 host Nick Grimshaw may also join the show - with recent confirmation that he’s taking a break from his radio show adding credence to the rumours.

Betway have odds of 3/1 on the host being announced as a new cast member.
