‘Urgent need’ for foster carers in Carrickfergus

Barnardo’s NI is campaigning to raise awareness of the urgent need for more foster carers in Carrick.

Across Northern Ireland, according to figures supplied by Fostering Network NI, over 200 carers are needed across Northern Ireland to provide children with loving, caring, stable homes. Barnardo’s believes that every child has the right to a stable and happy childhood and without a suitable foster family children miss out on the care and stability they so desperately need. As a fostering agency, Barnardo’s strives to recruit foster carers for the children who are often deemed ‘harder to place’ due to either their age, being part of a sibling group, their ethnicity or a disability.

Being a foster carer is a life-giving profession and offers the opportunity to create strong and positive memories and foundations for the most vulnerable children in our society. Barnardo’s NI wants to hear from any Carrick Times readers who are able to open their home and their heart to a child or children in need and who can work in partnership with us to help make sure their childhoods remain precious. Contact Barnardo’s on 028 9065 2288. They can also visit www.barnardos.org.uk/fostering for more information.
