A Carrickfergus student who read over two million words during the course of the academic year just concluded has been rewarded for her endeavour.
The school has participated in the initiative for a number of years, noting it “clearly encourages the pupils to read in their free time and to build up their word count on the Accelerated Reader website”.
The college’s main prize this year was awarded to Lucy McKaig who read over two million words from September 2014 to June 2015.
A statement from the school continued: “The college believe in the benefits of reading and the advantages this then gives the pupils throughout their academic studies.
“These ‘Super Readers’ look forward to a summer with plenty of time for reading.”
