Yoga Loft, Halo and Axiom Dynamics were told by Mid and East Antrim Borough Council planning office that they must remove the signage outside their premises or face “significant fines and possible legal action”.

Axiom Dynamics has since removed its signs.

The signage is considered by council not to be in keeping with a conservation area.

Lisa Holmes, owner of The Yoga Loft, said: “We attended the meeting in the hope of a promised compromise, sadly we weren’t offered a compromise. The outcome, after a meeting was remove the signs, have new ones designed and they would let us know if they were suitable or not. Myself and the other business owners didn’t feel or believe this was a compromise.”

A council spokesperson said: “Council officers are still available to work with and advise the other business owners to avoid any enforcement having to take place.

“We value the economic impact these local businesses have to the town and have always been willing to work with them.”
