One of artists behind the High Street venture is Rosie McClelland, who explained: “It is a shared creative space that encourages people to come in and share stories and memories of Carrick old and new.

“Come and take a walk down our memory lane where we have a beautiful collection of donated images, or share a memory of Carrick with us and post it to our memorial station. And for those writers amongst us we are attempting to write the Longest Ghost Story ever written (in Carrick).”

The Story Shop will run until November 9 and will conclude with an exhibition of all the shop’s findings.

“The thing that really makes it work is that a Creative Shop is ‘on the ground’. It can hear what the local community think, want and need. It provides a programme of creative activity and it consults with people who come in, join in, or simply pass by,” added Rosie.
