Carrick walkers urged to join TinyLife’s 2,000 miles in May challenge
Carrickfergus Castle provided the backdrop as TinyLife family support officer Danielle Barnes and long term advocate Pamela McGookin met up to promote the charity’s Virtual Pram Push this week.
TinyLife and its supporters will be walking 2,000 miles during May to represent the 2,000 babies admitted to neo-natal units in Northern Ireland every year.
These babies are born too soon, too small or too sick with some arriving as early as 24 weeks, weighing as little as 1lb/454 grams, the same weight as half a bag of sugar.
The premature baby charity has continued to provide essential support to families during the Covid 19 pandemic and is asking participants to join the walk and raise vital funds for continued support services so vital for the six families in need every day in the province.
TinyLife is there to provide practical advice, emotional support and to give a helping hand to families who have a baby in a neonatal intensive care unit.
Pamela McGookin, owner of Bella Bump Maternity Dress Hire, said: “TinyLife is such a worthwhile charity. During a time of utter uncertainty, it is wonderful that TinyLife are there to provide practical help and advice to those in need.
“I’m asking everyone to get involved this May. Sign up today and together we can reach 2,000 miles and raise lots of money for this amazing charity.”
