A number of properties in the east Antrim town are now bedecked with Christmas lighting and local photographer Michael Ogilvie has captured images of some of the decorations.

Speaking to the Times, the Islandmagee Camera Club member said: “I have noticed a lot of people are putting decorations in their gardens. People who are feeling down because of the coronavirus are getting a lift when they see the decorated homes.

“I spoke to one elderly man about how nice his garden was looking. He said the Covid-19 pandemic had ruined this year and he wanted to see people smiling after the year we have experienced.

“He said it is so amazing to see how many people from the local community have stopped outside his home to look at his lights and smile.”
