Paramilitary-style attack on man in Carrickfergus

A 39-year-old male was assaulted with baseball bats and a sledgehammer at a house in the Rosebrook Avenue area of Carrickfergus on Wednesday evening.

Detectives are appealing for information about the paramilitary-style attack after four masked men forced their way into the dwelling shortly before 9.00pm.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.

PSNI Detective Constable Michael Sweeney said: “I would ask anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area, or who knows anything about this incident, to contact detectives at Larne police station on the non-emergency number 101.

“Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
