It follows complaints relating to a number of areas in the town including the Harbour car park. Vehicles travelling in a northerly direction along Rodgers Quay are prohibited from making a right-hand turn into the Harbour car park.

In a statement on Tuesday, PSNI Carrickfergus said: “We have this sign in several places around the town not just turning into the castle car park. It’s not the most difficult sign, but we keep getting reports of people blatantly ignoring it. Do you know where the others around Carrick are?”

Police added they will be monitoring these locations and giving out £30 tickets to offending drivers.
