Carrick man Wayne Downey has been found and is “safely back with his family”, police have said.
Thirty-seven-year-old Mr. Downey had been reported missing on Friday.
A spokesperson for PSNI Carrickfergus said: “Missing persons are a great example of how social media can assist our investigations.
“The posts we made were shared over 4,000 times with almost 1,000 comments made. We received numerous personal messages offering help in the search along with various information on possible sightings.”
The police spokesperson also paid tribute to the Community Rescue Service that assisted with the search.
The voluntary organisation was established in 2007.
