The “Take Five Steps to Well-being” event is aimed at providing those attending with the tools to improve mental health, as well as being more aware of the local services and help available.

Cllr Cheryl Johnston who is co co-ordinating the event would encourage as many people as possible to attend.

Cllr. Johnston said: “Mental health is just as important as our physical health and maintaining it should be a priority for every one.

“One in four people in Northern Ireland will experience a problem with their mental health, yet very few are willing to talk about the subject openly.

“This event will provide details of where the service provision is in the area, depending on the need as an individual. If successful, I hope to plan futher mental health events in Carrickfergus to raise awareness and reduce stigma.”
