Man beaten with baseball bats by masked gang in Carrick

A 32-year-old man required hospital treatment after being beaten with baseball bats in Carrickfergus on Friday night.

The victim was walking on Salia Avenue shortly before 7.00pm when he heard footsteps behind him. He was put into a car and driven a short distance to Cypress Place where he was taken from the vehicle and assaulted by four unknown males.

The man was struck a number of times with baseball bats and was taken to hospital for treatment for cuts and bruises.

The assailants were all dressed in dark clothing and wearing balaclavas.

PSNI Detective Sergeant Crothers is appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information that could assist with the investigation to contact detectives in Larne on the non-emergency number 101.
