Budding entrepreneurs are being offered the opportunity to ‘test trade’ their niche product in Carrickfergus town centre this month.

Carrick was selected as one of Carnegie UK Trust’s TestTown locations and Mid and East Antrim Borough Council has this week announced the successful applicants.

The test trade will take place from August 27-31 at the former ‘Suit’ premises in Joymount.

A spokesperson for MEA Council said: “The selected participants displayed huge enthusiasm and commitment to their respective businesses and a genuine desire to investigate the potential for establishing an ongoing presence in the local town centre.”

The successful candidates are: AM Weddings and Events, Bags and Bunting, Manna Cards, Orabel Art, The Shabbydashery, and VF Designs.

“There is a definite high quality ‘arts and crafts’ feel to the group and many of these talented artists and craftspeople will be producing products on site,” the spokesperson added. “With all of the participants coming from the local area, the hope is that town residents will make a real effort to come along and visit with the group during the test trade event to see their wonderful products and support this initiative.

“The participants in return are aiming to reward your support, offering a 10 percent discount on products right across the board for everyone who brings along an event flyer, so keep your eyes open for these appearing right across the town centre over the next 10 days.”
