An off-price retailer has created 15 new jobs in Carrickfergus - just in time for the Christmas shopping rush.

The Original Factory Shop has secured a five-year lease of a 5,300 sq ft unit on High Street, previously occupied by Poundstretcher.

The retailer is embarking on a period of significant growth with a series of openings planned in the coming months.

The Carrick branch will add to its portfolio of stores in regional towns across Northern Ireland, including Portrush, Holywood, Ballycastle, Warrenpoint, Kilkeel, Bangor, Dungannon, and Omagh.

The retailer sells well-known brands at factory shop prices with a product list which includes fashion, footwear, home and beauty items.

The store is located on the town’s prime retail pitch and is surrounded by retailers including Superdrug, Clarks and Medicare Pharmacy.

Mark Dodington, acquisitions manager at The Original Factory Shop, said: “Carrickfergus is an exciting opportunity for us and we are pleased to have identified a unit which is ideal for our requirements.

“We were looking for a prime location which would generate a high footfall while also giving us the space to feature a wide range of products.”
