A Carrickfergus barber's 'close shave' has helped raise hundreds of pounds for a worthy cause.

Harry Preshur, who owns Harry's Barber Shop in the town, had his beard shaved off on Tuesday evening in aid of Northern Ireland Children's Hospice.

The venture was carried out by local schoolgirl, Madison Wright (10), who has been the driving force behind a number of Hospice fundraising events in recent months.

Over £1000 and counting was raised for the charity through donations, both online and in store.

And although the new style is a big change from the facial hair he's sported for four years, the local businessman said he was glad to do whatever he could to help Madison's efforts. "She has done so much for the Children's Hospice," Harry added.

Donations can still be made online at the JustGiving page.
