The Gobbins cliff path is to be highlighted across the globe as part of a new international tourism advertising campaign.
Tourism Ireland has launched its marketing plans for 2016, setting a target for more than two million overseas visitors next year.
And the Gobbins will feature heavily in new advertmenst showcasing all that the Province has to offer visitors.
The campaign will launch in 23 markets around the world and has the potential to reach 26 million prospective holidaymakers in France and Germany alone, according to Tourism Ireland.
The organisation’s chief executive, Niall Gibbons said: “We will highlight the Gobbins cliff path around the world, while continuing to place a major focus on other iconic experiences like Titanic Belfast and the Giant’s Causeway.”
Welcoming the announcemnet, Mayor of Mid and East Antrim Councillor Billy Ashe said: “I am very pleased to learn that the Gobbins will be an integral part of the 2016 campaign.
“This has the potential to reach millions of prospective holidaymakers, so Tourism Ireland’s focus on our own world-beating attraction can only be good news for Mid and East Antrim Borough.”
Tourism Ireland estimates overseas visitor numbers this year of 1.9 million, up 5 per cent on 2014.
The organisation is responsible for external promotion of tourism, north and south, while Tourism NI looks after domestic markets.
The regenerated Gobbins cliff path opened to the public in August, and before long the Islandmagee attraction had topped Tourism NI’s chart of things to do in the Province.
The venue recently marked a major milestone by welcoming its 5,000th visitor.
Comprising a series of suspension tubular bridges and tunnels carved through the rock face, the Gobbins has been billed as a world-class tourist attraction.
