Gary Broad (33) of Greenisland married Jenny Rose Sibbaluca, from the Philippines, at the landmark on September 23.

The wedding ceremony took place in the Banqueting Hall of the Keep and was witnessed by almost 60 people, mainly family members.

The chief bridesmaid was Miss Karen Broad and the Best Man Mr David Knox.

The service was conducted by Pastor James Clarke who explained that the venue was very special to Gary as his Great Grandfather, Mr Ernie Broad, was the first caretaker of the castle from the 1920s to the 1950s.

Ernie was appointed caretaker of the castle when the Norman fortress came under state care in 1928, before retiring from the role 62 years ago.

As well as taking their traditional marriage vows, Gary and Jenny Rose included the Veil, Cords and Coins ceremony which brought a piece of Phillipino culture to the service. Thirteen-year-old twins Penny and Ethan Davidson sang ‘Bind Us Together Lord’ A Capello.

After the service, around 100 people attended the reception in the Loughshore Hotel and the musical entertainment was provided by Gregg Davidson.

The happy couple went on a tour of the North Coast for their honeymoon, as Jenny Rose had never been, but had heard so much about the region.
