A Carrickfergus school has adopted a novel approach to encouraging teamwork and learning about local history in the process.
Central Primary School’s ‘house’ system is based on famous people who have had an influence in the town: Chichester, De Courcy, De Lacy and Swift. An election was held for the members of each house to vote for their captains.
Nichola Lowry, P7 teacher, said: “The house captains who have been elected are responsible for planning house competitions throughout the year in order to earn house points. House points will be awarded for excellent behaviour, good attitude to school work and also to acknowledge achievements outside of school.
“The winning house will win the House Cup at the end of the school year. Each house captain will also work alongside their head of house teacher.”
