Family seeks supportfor charity craft fair

Franki Thursby is organising a craft fair to be held at Sunnylands Community Centre, in Carrick, in November.

The event will be held to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation and Chest Heart and Stroke charities.

Franki says that these charities have been supportive to her family following her 38-year-old husband’s shock diagnosis of DCM Syndrome and the early stages of heart failure in January.

“My husband has been put on tablets which at the moment has stabilised his condition but has to have regular check ups,” she said.

Franki explained: “These charities have proved to be a big help for my husband trying to deal with his condition and we want to give something back to them for all their hard work and support they give to all families.

“The charities have helped so much by just listening and answering any questions we might have and sent us a pack to try and explain things better to ourselves and children.

“It has been a huge shock for us all as a family.”

Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) is a disease of the heart muscle where it becomes stretched and thin meaning that it is unable to pump blood around the body efficiently.

She indicated that 20 stallholders have already signed up with “a fantastic variety to sell”. The fair will take place on November 24.
