Causeway Coast and Glens Council are considering carrying out another session of electric blanket testing in the Borough following recent road shows where over 50% of blankets failed the tests.
Road shows had been carried out in September and October in Ballycastle, Ballymoney and Coleraine. A total of 119 blankets were tested with 79 failing the test.
The 79 were replaced with new electric blankets. The electric blankets were purchased in local towns and PHA provided the funding via the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council Home Accident Prevention Groups.
Members of Council’s Environmental Services Committee agreed that the exercise was very worthwhile and asked if it would be possible to run another event before the winter weather sets in. It was agreed that officers would look into the possibility of running another session.
