Former Carrickfergus Grammar principal appointed to Education Authority

Former Carrickfergus Grammar School principal Kieran Mulvenna has been appointed to the board of the Education Authority (EA).

Mr Mulvenna has been nominated by the Association of Controlled Grammar Schools to represent the interests of the sector on the EA.

A recently retired head teacher and secretary to the board of governors, he has chaired and led the steering group of the Carrickfergus Learning Community.

Mr Mulvenna has declared that he has not undertaken any political activity during the past five years and does not hold any other public appointments.

Announced by the Department of Education, the appointment will run from April 1 until March 31, 2020.

The annual remuneration for members on the EA board is £8,800 per annum plus travel and subsistence allowances.
