DUP ahead in Carrick by-election

The DUP is leading the way in the Carrick Castle ward by-election.

In the first round, DUP candidate Peter Johston has polled 1106 votes; John McDermott, Ulster Unionist Party, 668; Lauren Gray, Alliance Party, 556; Si Harvey, Democrats and Veterans party, 448; Will Sibley, Independent, 71.

A total of 2,849 votes were polled.

The quota is 1,425.
