Fireworks and alcohol seized by PSNI in Carrick

Police officers conducted patrols in the Carrickfergus area on Saturday (October 16) following reports of anti-social behaviour in the town.

Patrols were conducted in a number of areas including Bashford Woods and Sunnylands.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Carrickfergus Neighbourhood Policing Team are on foot patrol through Bashford Woods and surrounding areas following reports of anti-social behaviour (ASB) in the area.

“A quantity of alcohol has been seized and those involved will be reported to the youth diversion officer. We will be continuing patrols on foot and vehicle to combat the ASB in the area.”

Meanwhile, police also confiscated fireworks while conducting patrols in the town on Saturday night.

The spokesperson added: “Unfortunately, a few people have decided to light fireworks. We’ve already had to confiscate some. We don’t want to spoil anyone’s fun, but more importantly we don’t want anyone getting injured by the misuse of fireworks!”
