Crowds of people flocked to the town centre for Saturday’s celebrations.

There was an extra sparkle to festivities with Mid and East Antrim Borough Council teaming up with the Department for Communities to deliver new lights “to revitalise” the town centre and “help guide shoppers to the fantastic independent and high street retailers”.

The programme of entertainment included live music, musical theatre a mini funfair and carol service at St Nicholas’ Church of Ireland.

This was followed by the Christmas tree lights being switched on and a fireworks display.

The Mayor, Cllr Lindsay Millar, reminded residents to share the sparkle on social media using the #FindYourChristmas when you’re in buying your Christmas goodies.
