A Carrickfergus resident is putting her best foot forward in aid of Cruse Bereavement Care NI.

Eleanor Ellerslie is one of 14 participants learning how to dance in the run up to ‘Cruse Presents Strictly’.

The charity delivers support to anyone who has been bereaved through face-to-face, group, telephone, email and website support.

All Cruse services are delivered at no cost to the individuals who seek help and support. Fundraising events such as ‘Strictly’ provide much-needed funding to continue these services.

A Cruse employee, Eleanor manages the Beyond Words Project - a partnership between Cruse and Stroke Association which supports people aged 60-plus who have been bereaved.

“When ‘Strictly’ was mentioned, I immediately volunteered to take part as I wanted learn how to dance, but more importantly to raise funds for a charity which is very close to my heart,” Eleanor said.

“I have been paired up with Frankie McBride, who is a Cruse volunteer, and we are hoping to raise a lot of money to help support the work that [the charity] does within Northern Ireland.”

The event will take place on Saturday, November 5 at The Hilton Hotel, Belfast and will be hosted by Nuala McKeever.

Businesses can also sponsor dancers and their logos and business details will be displayed on the night of the competition and in printed materials.

Alternatively they can offer prizes for the ballot and auction.
