The local community’s floral and artistic skills have been recognised during this year’s Carrickfergus in Bloom prize giving.

Organised by Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, the local ‘Best Kept’ competition winners and runners-up all received their well-earned certificates and prizes at Carrickfergus Town Hall last Friday.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Mayor of Mid and East Antrim Borough, Councillor Billy Ashe, said: “I want to thank all those who took part in the competition and made it such a success.

“The ‘In Bloom’ community competitions are a very important part of our Britain and Ulster in Bloom entries and also a great way to celebrate the hard work put in by local people dedicated to making their environment as attractive as possible.”

Competition categories include Best Kept Garden, Best Kept Community Planting Scheme and Best Kept Commercial Premises for commercial organisations, Best Kept Allotment sponsored by Sunnybank Garden Centre, and Painting, Poetry and Tallest Sunflower Competitions for young people.
