Schoolchildren in Carrickfergus are to receive a special festive gift thanks to a community initiative by Carrick Rangers.

Over 1,000 pupils from 10 primary schools in the town will receive a Christmas card from the club, containing a complementaryunder-11 ticket for their match against Ballinamallard on Friday, December 29.

Carrick Rangers Director, Adam Simpson said: "We are delighted to be able to offer 1,000 primary school children the chance to come and experience a game at the Belfast Loughshore Hotel Arena.

"As we approach the Christmas period, we wanted to give something back to the local community and thank those who have supported us through 2017 and also try and attract some children who have never enjoyed a Carrick Rangers game before.

"We want to build a new generation of supporters and ensure that we remain at the heart of the community as we continue our progress as a club in the Danske Bank Premiership.

"We would also like to thank each of the 10 participating primary schools for supporting the initiative."

The schools are Woodlawn, St Nicholas', Eden, Oakfield, Woodburn, Sunnylands, Victoria, Carrickfergus Model, Acorn, and Carrickfergus Central.
