Carrickfergus Rotary Club has thanked shoppers for supporting its annual Tree of Hope fundraiser.
This is the sixth year of the initiative by the organisation in the run up to Christmas.
Members of the public are invited to purchase a ribbon in memory of a loved one.
These ribbons are used to decorate the tree which is located outside Tesco at Minorca Place.
The proceeds this year will support the work of Action Cancer, Children’s Hospice, the Cancer Fund for Children’s Daisy Lodge project and Diabetes UK.
The club expressed gratitude to Anne Ritchie, Tesco’s Community Champion and the management of the store for facilitating the project.
Club members are supported in manning the tree by members of the Carrickfergus support groups for Action Cancer and Children’s Hospice, Carrickfergus Inner Wheel, Carrickfergus Men’s Probus Club and volunteers from Abbey Insurance.
In launching the project the Mayor, Alderman Charles Johnston, commended Carrickfergus Rotary Club for its work on behalf of local projects.
Sam Crowe, president of Carrickfergus Rotary Club, thanked shoppers for their generosity to the annual fundraiser.
As well as a programme of meetings with guest speakers, the club takes part in a range of initiatives in support of charity and community organisations.
