A local cancer charity has received a welcome boost thanks to the efforts of a member of staff at Sainsbury’s Carrickfergus
Becca Snoddy had her head shaved during a fundraiser for the 1in3 Cancer Support at the Rodgers Quay store.
The 23-year-old made the decision to support the charity after several of her relatives and a friend were diagnosed with the disease.
“The management in the store were really supportive of me doing it,” said Becca, from Larne.
The venture, which took place last month, raised over £1,105 through a combination of online fundraising and collections on the day.
1in3 is a locally based charity supporting people in the East Antrim Area affected by cancer.
The charity, which does not means test, offers practical support with tasks such as housework or gardening as well as access to counselling.
In 2015, the group spent £9,991 supporting local people affected by cancer.
“We could not do this without the help of local people fund raising for us,” said 1in3’s Karen McMcMeekan.
“Together we have made a difference to so many people in our local community.
“To continue with this support we need your continued support to raise funds.”
