The work of the only charity in Northern Ireland supporting those suffering from depression or bipolar disorder has been outlined to a Carrick audience.
Kieran Hughes of AWARE was guest speaker at a recent meeting of Carrickfergus Rotary Club.
He explained how the organisation has built a network of 24 support groups across the province for sufferers and also established a listening ear helpline which can provide advice and information to those in need.
Kieran also outlined some of the education programmes developed by AWARE which focus on mental health and wellbeing and are available for delivery by trained staff to community groups, schools, colleges, universities and workplaces.
Brenda Houston, president of Carrickfergus Rotary, congratulated Kieran on an excellent presentation and commended the valuable work done by AWARE throughout the province to support and educate about mental health.
