An open afternoon will take place at Downshire School in Carrick on Thursday September 28, from 2.00 pm until 6.00 pm to celebrate the school’s 40th anniversary.
Former pupils, staff and governors are invited to attend the event which is also being held to celebrate the school’s “excellent results”.
Downshire School is delighted to report that more top grades have been achieved, raising the percentage of five plus A*-C grades to 62 per cent, a record figure.
Principal Jackie Stewart said: “This total may be further raised when re-mark results come in. This is particularly pleasing when all pupils, regardless of academic ability are entered for a full range of GCSE academic and vocational qualifications.
“Special congratulations to Dee-Jay Thompson who scored 100 per cent in two of his GCSE history modules. There was also 100 per cent pass in Spanish OLA examinations and 100 per cent in HSK, a second level qualification in Chinese Mandarin.
“We are also delighted to record that 62 per cent of our Year 8 passed the first level YCT qualification in Chinese Mandarin. Well done to them all.”
