GOLF: Johnston wins Men's Open Seniors at Carrick GC
There was success for Billy Johnston in the Men's Open Seniors event at Carrickfergus Golf Club.
He was the overall winner with 40 points. The event was sponsored by Tom Woods OBE. In the 50-65 years section, the winners were Tommy Haggan 37, Raymond Haggan 35, Sam McAllister 35 and Stephen McAlinden 34. First and second nine winners were Fred Williams and Stanley Spray.
In the over 66 years section the winner was Eddie Robinson with 39, followed by Robin Vance 38, Des Bingham 36 and Campbell Foster 35. First and second nine winners were Sander Connor and Raymond Fitzsimons. The visitors prizes were won by W Stewart and J Stewart from Whitehead. Nearest the pin prizes were won by L Lyness, D Gillespie, J Powers, V Lynagh and B Forsythe.
