Ten thousand books issued in one monthat Carrick Library
A total of 10,752 were borrowed by avid readers in the town representing an increase of 20 per cent in two years.
For the second consecutive month, branches in Carrick and Ballyclare had the highest number of book issues in County Antrim.

Hide AdTitles of local interest included “Carrickfergus and its Contacts” by JF McNeice and “Thirty Years in South East Antrim, the Parish of Coole or Lambeg” by WI Craig.
Other literary works included those of Irish writers James Joyce; George Bernard Shaw and WB Yeats.
Also stocked were books by P Collum; P Lynch; Canon Sheehan and AMP Smithson.
Malcolm Brodie’s history of Irish soccer was a popular choice which summarised the development of the Irish Football Association and Irish League with chapters on all the principal teams such as “Ballymena United”.
Historical and religious tomes also featured on shelves highlighting the roles of Casement; St. Columba and St. Patrick, to name just a few.
