North Road golfers miss out on final

CARRICKFERGUS Golf Club's dreams of Holt Shield success are over.

The team representing the North Road club lost their semi-final tie with Belvoir Park by an aggregate 6-4, winning the home leg 3-2 before going down 4-1 away.

The club has praised the efforts of the team in progressing so far in the competition.

At North Road, Eamon Kelly celebrated success in the stroke play competition played on August 28, finishing ahead of the pack with a nett score of 48.

Low handicap winners were Michael Addley (51), Maurice McAteer and Leslie Lyle (both 53), while the best of the high handicappers were Winston Calder (51), Billy Morrison (53) and Tommy Walker (54).

Craig Addley (57) won the gross prize, while David Clarke (29) took the super senior honours.

G Cathcart won the five day members' competition with 29 points.

The ladies' competition on August 31 was won by Helen Pedlow with 29 points, ahead of Mollie Anderson (28) and Joyce Logan (27).
