Saturday was schedeuled as finals’ day for the Lagan Valley Steels T20 competition but the incessant rain put paid to any action.
Carrick were due to take on Lisburn at in the semi-finals at Wallace Park, while North Down were set to face Waringstown at the The Lawn with the final at Waringstown in the afternoon. However, early morning dowpours ruined any chance for play.
The NCU Emergency Committee met and agreed the semi-finalists can make their own arrangements to play the matches with the proviso that the original venues stood.
Meanwhile, teams from Academy and Templepatrick had their league fixtures postponed following early morning rainfall.
Academy’s top two teams had double headers against Donaghcloney cancelled. Templepatrick fared no better when their Senior League Section 2 clash with Laurelvale was called off because of water-logging at The Cloughan.
In Section Three, league leaders Larne were spared a trip to Monaghan because of the weather. The Sandy Bay outfit’s next league match sees them travel to basement boys Dungannon on Sunday, July 17.
