Substitute Conor McCloskey came off the bench to land a second-half hat-trick as Carrick Rangers defeated Dunloy 5-1 in the Intermediate Cup at Taylor’s Avenue.

Anto Lagan got the ball rolling for Rangers in the fourth-round tie when he headed home from Kyle Cherry’s cross.

Karl Fitzpatrick equalised for Dunloy, but Ryan Kane put Carrick back in the driving seat when he scored direct from a corner, with the ball creeping in at the near post.

McCloskey, who replaced Jody Lynch, netted his first with 70 minutes on the clock before making it 4-1 when he applied the finish to Lagan’s knock-down.

The former Portadown man chalked up a personal tally of five goals in seven days when he rattled in a third with five minutes remaining.
