Gary Haveron’s men were three goals to the good at the break thanks to that Donaghy double either side of a Dundela own goal from Scott Collins.

Another Duns o.g., which deflected past keeper Steven McKay after Conor McCloskey’s cross, made it 4-0 to the visitors five minutes after the restart.

But the home side gave Carrick food for thought when they struck twice in the space of 11 minutes. Carl McComb headed past Brian Neeson and former Carrick centre-back Kyle Owens added the second.

McCloskey rounded things off when he raced on to Miguel Chines’ searching pass to find the net 20 minutes from time.

The result puts the Gers second in the table, one point behind leaders HW Welders.
