Carrick golf results

JOHN McGookin won the recent Stableford competition on a truncated course at Carrickfergus Golf Club, scoring 31 points over 14 holes.

Low handicap winners were Ricky Moore (30), Gary Addley and JA Moore (both 29), the top mid handicap players were James Thompson, B Robinson (both 30) and Trevor Norris (29) and the best high handicap performances came from Tom Sturgeon, John Turner (both 29) and Des Graham (28).

Michael Keys shot the best gross and George Glasgow was the super seniors winner.

In the ladies' section, the Chest Heart and Stroke Trophy was won by Helen Pedlow with 28 points ahead of Helen Vizard (25) and Sandra Wallace (23).

Meanwhile, the Holt Shield team beat Belvoir 3-2 in the home leg of their semi-final clash, leaving plenty of work to be done if the North Road players are to reach the final.
