This year an "Ulster Exile" side will be entering the Carrick Sevens, this side will be made up of quality players who have enhanced their rugby skills while at Universities across the water and are playing or played at 1st XV level for their Universities,
The Rugby coached and played across in England, Scotland and Wales is at a higher standard than that played in the Ulster Branch area, this is due the the greater number of players with quality skills competing in the bigger arena. Universities like
Northumbria and Leeds are directly connected to Premiership teams like Newcastle Falcons and Leeds Carneige. These Premiership sides undertake the development of players at these Universities and help to coach as well as introducing player development skills as used by these sides.

B.U.S.A. the British Universities sporting body run a massive league campaign within the British isles equilavant to the All Ireland League which can be viewed on the BUSA website

This "Ulster Exile "side will have been coached by Kieran Campbell, Ulster and Irish Sevens player/coach and Maurice Field,.ex Irish international and Ulster Veteran Sevens player.

The primary sponsor is "The Lindsay Cars" group and they have been assisted by Abbey Insurance and Kukri Sportswear who all see the benefit of bringing these players back to Ulster shores for this prestigious event
