Carrick public thanked for Trocaire support

I am writing to thank the people of County Antrim most sincerely for the support they have shown for Trócaire’s work throughout 2013, our 40th anniversary year.

In these times of increasing pressure on people’s incomes here at home, the public in County Antrim have shown remarkable generosity to, and solidarity with, the world’s poor this year not only by supporting our Lenten campaign, by getting involved in Trad for Trócaire and by buying our Christmas gifts, but also by donating to our emergency appeals for the people of Syria and the Philippines.

This support has allowed Trócaire to continue our critical work in over 20 countries worldwide.

In 2012, for example, Trócaire’s work directly benefitted the lives of over 2.7 million people.

In Myanmar support to Trócaire has provided 20,000 civilian victims of the conflict with food and shelter while in Ethiopia 25,950 families now enjoy access to safe water.

In Kenya 2,451 survivors of sexual violence received care thanks to Trócaire partners and in Guatemala 515 people have secured titles to their land, which means their family can now look forward to a more certain future.

We are proud to work on behalf of the people of County Antrim and we will continue to ensure that money entrusted to us is used effectively to help those who need it most.
