Whitehead venue for '˜Pint and Pieathlon'

Fans of pub grub are encouraged to take part in a novel charity event in Whitehead next month.

The seaside town will host a ‘Pint and Pieathlon’ to raise funds for a sensory room at Whitehaven for life limited children.

The event will take in a four mile course from Whitehead Fire Station to Islandmagee Football Club and back.

“You can walk it, run it, fancy dress it, whatever you want,” said organiser Noel McKee. “You have two hours to finish four miles. Simple - apart from the fact that you have to stop at every mile mark, drink a pint and eat a savoury pie.

“You finish when you have completed all four stops and cross the finish line back at the fire station. Stop one at SPR Magowan, then the football club, back to Magowan’s then to the Whitecliff and across to the fire station.”

The race will start off on September 10 at 3pm.

There will be a prize for the best fancy dress.
