Brainwaves founder on New Year Honours list

A Whitehead woman has been named in the New Year Honours list for her charity work.

Kathleen Ferguson, founder and Honorary Secretary of Brainwaves Northern Ireland, receives an MBE for services to people with brain tumours and their families.

Also honoured are Kilroot Alderman Jim Brown, who has been awarded an MBE for services to local government and Geraldine Duggan, vice-chair of Belfast Lough Sailability, who receives a BEM for services to sailing and people with disabilities.
