Looking back... '˜Say no to vandalism'

Carrick councillor Stewart Dickson urged people living in the Greenisland estate to say no to vandalism and graffiti writing in the area in May 1986.

He made the plea after a number of incidents in the area.

The Alliance representative said: “In recent weeks there has been a spate of vandalism in the estate with windows in homes being broken and graffiti appearing on walls and even on the road. I would make a plea to people in the area to ensure the estate is kept clean and come out against such vandalism because, at the end of the day, it is council and the Housing Executive who have to clean the area and it is the ratepayers and tenants who will foot the bill.”
