The popular sessions see mothers learn the baby massage techniques which, according to the organiser, help relax the young children.

Sandra Silverson, of Carrickfergus Baptist Church, who is a certified Infant Massage Instructor, explained: “It has now been running for two years - we started in May 2014 and ran a class to see if there was any interest and have had a constant flow of parents and babies ever since with several in recent classes being returnees bringing their second child along.”

As well as learning how to massage their babies, participants have a chance to make new friends and learn something about what the church had to offer.

There is also a short epilogue followed by tea, coffee and buns.

On the final week of each course, those taking part are presented with their certificates by Pastor Peter Lawther along with a gift of a children’s Bible book as a memento.
