Carrickfergus waters have hosted Paralympic racing courtesy of Belfast Lough Sailability (BLS).

Northern Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales competed in Belfast Lough on crafts provided by BLS, which has three 2.4mR boats based on the original America’s Cup 12-metre yachts.

“These racing yachts are perfect for those people with disabilities who are thrill seekers to race in a very competitive class,” BLS stated.

The charity also delivered sailing sessions and a brief exploration of the commercial port to young people in Belfast.

“Working in partnership with Belfast City Council, Belfast Harbour and Belfast Titanic Foundation, BLS had another opportunity to spread its wings and work on the beautiful waters of the River Lagan, right next to the heart of the city. The young people and their parents were full of praise for BLS who provided a week-end of sailing and power boat experiences.
