Seatbelt lapse proves costly as further offences are found
Jan Ferencik (35), Eden Avenue, Portadown, admitted the offences when he appeared last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court.
For driving without having insurance he was fined £250 and given six points. He was also fined £60 for not wearing a seat belt, £60 for a defective tyre and £75 for not having a vehicle test certificate.

Hide AdThe court heard that on July 8 the defendant was stopped by police. A check of the data base revealed there was no insurance in place, the offside rear tyre was defective and he had no vehicle test certificate.
A solicitor representing the defendant said his insurance had lapsed and he had intended to get insurance but had been working. He added that Ferencik now had insurance and a vehicle test certificate.
The solicitor explained that he had been working and took a chance to drive and was stopped on the way home.
