A Carrick Alderman has outlined his hopes of boosting the borough’s chances of a royal visit after his inclusion on the New Year Honours list.

Ald Jim Brown, who is to receive a MBE for his services to local government, said at last week’s meeting of the local authority: “When the investiture takes place I would hope that it is William, Baron Carrickfergus who is doing the honours and that we might take the opportunity to invite him to visit the borough of Carrickfergus.

“I would also like to thank her gracious Majesty for the way she has honoured this town.”
