Police have raised the alarm over a “skimming” device which had been placed on a cashpoint machine at Tesco Extra in Carrick.

The PSNI was alerted yesterday over “irregularities” at the ATM.

A spokesman confirmed that there had been equipment placed on the machine in order to capture card and PIN details, including a skimming device and a pinhole camera.

He said: “On this occasion, a member of the public raised the alarm with security staff in store.

“Thanks to their help, we were able to secure the machine’s integrity at the earliest opportunity.

“Please be aware of these sort of things, and if in doubt, use another ATM.”
